Military Hand to Hand Combat Now Offered in Phoenix for Self Defense and Defensive Tactics (and a little bit on Tactical Bacon)

Open Letter To Law Enforcement, Security Agents, Corrections and Military:

Dear professional protector:

First let me start by saying thank you for your service to our communities, nation and the cause of protection. My name is John Nottingham and I’d like to invite you to consider a program I’m opening to a select group of like-minded individuals. It’s called IMPACT. Here’s a bit about it.

IMPACT Tactical Training for Defensive Tactics and Military Combatives

Not only will you get fit, you’ll get strong. Strength is a skill and that is what you will learn at IMPACT. It is a carefully designed curriculum that adapts to the individual user. Drawing on the strengths of Jeet Kune Do, Krav Maga and Military Hand to Hand combat concepts, the system is built on using superior strategy to resolve conflicts and survive hostile engagements.

The curriculum has been developed over the last twenty six years and has origins in American Military Hand to Hand (H2H), Hand to Weapon Close Quarters Combat (CQC).
o Functional Fitness
o Rehabilitating movement
o Emphasizes Adaptation
o Injury prevention
o Reverse engineered from tactical applications

A little on my background…

Military Origins
My in-depth research on this subject started when my company commander asked me to develop an updated military combatives program for hand to hand combat. At the time I was serving in an Intelligence Detachment supporting a Special Forces Airborne unit. The experimental trial was tested as part of a Physical Training program. That research continues to evolve over the last twenty plus years. Besides being an advanced Black Belt, Instructor and International competitor at the time, I think that part of the reason I was chosen was because I was one of the smallest and lightest men in the unit. If it could work for me, it could work for them.

IMPACT stands for Intense Mental Physical Applied Conditioning Training.

Professional Protectors Training
IMPACT fuses my experience in teaching people of all ages and abilities over my career how to effectively protect themselves. It is the best of the executive protection (bodyguard tactics), advanced threat assessment, military combatives, and personal training including therapeutic yoga for rehab and stress management. (Let’s face it, most of us combat athletes, veterans and operators have injuries we have to work around. Hello Airborne knees.) One of my strengths has always been fear management and creating simple solutions to complex self defense and defensive tactics problems.

Practical Tactical Self Defense
Today the word tactical is attached to almost anything that can be sold to gun and military enthusiasts. However, tactical in IMPACT refers to the specific tactics used in close quarters battle and survival situations. These tactics are specifically designed for a purpose.
Defending and countering:
o Handguns
o Long guns such as rifles and shotguns
o Punches
o Grabs
o Shoves
o Tackles
o Chokes
o Ground and pound & submissions

Functional Fitness “Fit to Fight”
IMPACT is as much mental conditioning as it is physical. That is why we have classroom with Powerpoint presentations, demonstrations and interactive small group education in addition to the functional physical fitness conditioning. Those with a military or SWAT background will recognize many of these drills because they draw upon elite team training concepts. This is an opportunity to reinforce the fundamentals, build a foundation for safer, smarter movement, as well as keep reactions sharp. In addition, clients learn some little known tactics from executive protection training, advanced threat assessment, and our own proprietary testing. They will observe crime footage of actual attacks, assassination attempts and ambushes to better prepare them for the tactical careers or skills they want to maintain.

Alternative to Pain Chasing – The Smarter Long Term Choice
Too many law enforcement, military and members in protective fields have been conditioned to chase pain. You can see the results of that mentality in their bodies and performance over time. I know that I was taught to chase pain (mind over matter – “If you don’t mind, it don’t matter.”) and it took its toll on my body. IMPACT is not about proving that you’re tough because if you’re an operator, you’ve already proven that.

Years of rehabilitation later, I have regained mobility and in some cases surpassed my conditioning from the past. IMPACT is designed to be the smarter approach to tactical strength training. IMPACT’s goal is to reduce destructive stress to the body and mind while maintaining a healthy level of adaptable, injury preventing fitness (readiness). That separates IMPACT from most other conditioning programs that cause injury, induce premature aging and encourage a go-hard-or-go-home mentality. Speaking from personal experience, IMPACT is a more evolved and mature approach to advancing and maintaining critical skill areas and health.

o Reduce fatigue
o Improve mobility & strength
o Improve response time
o Reduce and prevent injury
o Increase energy and improve health

Check The Ego At The Door
If you are willing to check you ego at the door, work smart and consistently with a group of like-minded individuals, then IMPACT is for you. This is not an MMA sport program for wanna-be fighters and thug types. It is not an alpha-male driven tribal experience and filled with wanna-be cool clubbers. The purpose of IMPACT is to build you up, not tear you down. IMPACT is designed to give you more energy, not wipe you out. IMPACT is designed for the professional operator in mind from beginning to end. We work with what our clients can do at their age, level of wellness and ability.

Membership is by interview and selection only. This helps keep it safe, professional and enjoyable for members.

We invite you to consider IMPACT.

Respectfully,

John Nottingham
